Apricots are some of the most popular fruits grown in South Africa and due to their short growing season, they are often dried. Much like their fresh counterparts, dried apricots contain large amounts of fibre, as well as essential vitamins and minerals. What's more, our preservative-free dried apricots are made without sulphur or added sugar, so you get the real fruity goodness and a great nutritional boost. They are commonly eaten as a snack, but you can add them to a variety of dishes. Try them in baked goods, mueslis, sosaties and stews. And of course, they are a yummy addition to any lunchbox, and the perfect companion for camping, hiking, and road trips.
WHY SO DARK?
By Nature’s preservative-free apricot halves are dried without the use of sulphur dioxide and/or any other sulphites. The natural oxidation process that occurs when drying sulphur-free dried fruits, gives you a slightly darker colour and a sweeter flavour.
WHY SO DRY?
When drying fruit without preservatives, the natural sugar in the fruit helps to prevent the growth of bacteria, moulds and yeast. When drying fruit that is naturally low in sugar, like apricots, a longer drying time is required to achieve the same result.
