These superb macadamias are grown on a family-owned certified organic farm along the east coast of South Africa. They export most of their nuts, but we've managed to secure some for the local market. Unlike most macadamias, these are removed from the shell without using heat. This gives them a natural, just-picked flavour and a longer shelf life. These nuts are rich in protein, fibre, minerals and unsaturated fats. In fact, macadamias contain more monounsaturated fat per serving than any other nut. Their sweet flavour and buttery texture make them a fantastic addition to baked goods, trail mixes, granolas, salads and pestos.
ARE MACADAMIA NUTS FATTENING?
Although macadamia nuts have the highest fat content of any tree nut, they contain mostly monounsaturated fat, which is considered one of the healthier and more beneficial forms of fat for the human diet. Additionally, macadamia nuts are cholesterol-free and contain no trans fatty acids.
