We have sourced the best Thompson seedless raisins from a farm on the banks of the Orange River: locally grown, export quality, certified organic raisins, with the added benefit of being non-oiled. These raisins are naturally dried, without the use of sulphur, retaining most of the nutritional value of fresh grapes (except for the loss of water). They are plump and deliciously sweet, due to their high concentration of sugars, most of which are fructose and glucose. They also contain protein and dietary fibre and are high in antioxidants but low in sodium. In other words, they are the perfect compact, high-energy snack for cyclists, backpackers, campers and kids.
WHY NOT SULTANAS/GOLDEN RAISINS?
Although both raisins and sultanas are made from Thompson seedless grapes, the term "sultana" generally refers to golden-coloured raisins that have been bleached and treated with sulphur dioxide, rather than preserved with traditional methods. In contrast, our certified organic Thompson seedless raisins are dried naturally, without the use of sulphur and/or any other chemicals.
